About company
Around 1929 our school looked even more imposing and impressive than it is today, because the view of the building was not yet obstructed by a two and a half meter high wall. At that time there was only the foundation of the wall, a small plinth that surrounded the schoolyard.
The reason for the erection of the higher wall was the physical education of the girls, because the Goethe-Gymnasium was at that time still a school for girls and was first called Viktoria-Luisen-Schule. Certain (male) passers-by came and went to enjoy the young girls' physical education classes. In the end, it was the parents' wish and the director's complaint that teachers had been mocked, the decisive factor. As part of the redesign of the school yard in the 2006/07 school year, the old state of the wall was restored for reasons of monument protection.
The building of our school offers the viewer the image of a warm, friendly, respectful educational establishment. The architect had deliberately not built it according to the image of a typical school barracks with a symmetrically arranged facade made of red brick, but instead paid attention to a varied exterior. For example, numerous figurative representations on aspects of education can be seen on the main, but also on the side facade, which faces Uhlandstrasse.
In the course of time the originally light sandstone facade became darker and darker - a consequence of the urban environmental influences. Extensive restoration and cleaning work has been taking place since 2014 and the facade of our school building now shines in new splendor.
